June is the month of the Father. Let’s take this sacred opportunity to examine our understanding of fatherhood and revisit our conscious connection with the reality of fathering. Being fathered, fathering others, and of course, ourselves.

Each of us has within an “inner father,” that part of our innermost self that is always ready to help us live our lives here on earth. As we come to appreciate and understand the father within, our relationships with men in our lives, at all levels, naturally transform and manifest their potential.

As we come to love, understand, and appreciate our own inner father, we will come to love, understand, and appreciate the positive aspects of the patriarchy which has dominated global consciousness for some time. As we come to know the value of our own inner father, we will draw forth the very best that the male presence has to offer. Lately, the patriarchy is falling short of meeting emerging needs of humanity, but has been a positive presence for thousands of years. Signaling time to change.

We easily recognize the mother as the part of us that loves and comforts unconditionally. The father can be more challenging to recognize and celebrate, often requiring a bit more emotional unpacking. The father is about strength, action, providing, protecting and advocating for ourselves. A good father takes care of his children so that they can brave the storms of life and have their dreams come true.

This month, let’s take the sacred opportunity to find the good father within, to dignify that part of ourselves that can and will provide, advocate, and protect us in empowering ways. Let’s relinquish limiting ideas about men in the context of toxic masculinity, and know the truth that men are good and fatherhood is beautiful.

Now is the ideal time to  practice the action of being a good father to ourselves and the ones we love. As we dignify our own inner father, the best of the patriarchy can emerge in harmony with the matriarchy and the whole of humanity. The great spiritual opportunity here is to recognize the positive value of the masculine, so we can fuse with the best of it for greater balance personally and collectively.

For this month’s spiritual practice, try this: when you are stuck or do not know what to do…go within, take a moment and extend yourself to yourself. Even if you do not know exactly what to do, say “I will help you.” Willingness to be there for yourself in a very tangible way is amazing and powerful here on earth where our great challenge is to be spiritual consciousness in action.

Try it: “I will help you. I may not know how, but I will find a way, we will find a solution.” There is comfort and strength in these words uttered globally by fathers throughout time. Enjoy!
