As someone who has a lifelong commitment to working in the Light of the Akashic Records, I have a profound aversion to despair. But in our ever-complicated and ever-changing world, the specter of despair is undeniably present in our own lives and the lives of those we love.

I have come to understand that if there is a Devil, it’s alive and well in the heart of despair. Simply put, despair is the Devil, and the Devil is despair. I have never written about the Devil before, but this connection between despair and the Devil deserves some examination within the context of the world in which we live today.

The truth is that I have spent most of my life denying the existence of a Devil or the personification of evil. But at these times of dramatic upheaval and destruction of known ways of life in the U.S., it appears to be time to reconsider my old ideas of a Devil.

A painful reality of life is the dissonance between darkness and light. I understand this confusion. How is it possible that we are living in times of unprecedented possibilities, unlimited options, wide ranges of choices—and yet, at the very same time, we frequently feel foggy, uncertain, frightened, and sometimes even in the grip of despair.

And how is it possible that our beautiful world of love and light could be hijacked by a rising tide of jealousy, greed, prejudice, fear, and hate? This negativity has the capability of injuring our very soul, extinguishing our experience of light and our life force.

I feel this deeply in my heart and with my entire being, and I hope you will join me in facing this Devil of despair head-on and obliterating it.

Love and light are imminent and infinite, radiating and magnetic, imperturbable, eternal and pure. Illumination and compassion woven together supporting the fabric of our personal being and unifying the tapestry of the human family. This awareness has the potential to catapult us from despair to acceptance, and from acceptance to appropriate action. It determines our relationship with people, events and conditions, empowering us to inspiration and resilience.

During times of chaos and emotional shifts, the denser, slower energies expressed as sadness, fear, despair, resentment, anger, and frustration are transmuted in the Akashic Records to higher, quicker energies expressed as happiness, contentment, freedom, and joy. By being present in the Records—even if you’re reading for someone else—you can experience such a shift.

So, if you are sad or uncertain about something before you open the Records, you may find that after the reading you suddenly have clarity and hope. And if you are confused about an impending decision, you might suddenly know what to do in the light of the Akashic Records.

Embracing humility, we grow in awareness of the reality of our being—having an accurate assessment of the fact that we are infinite souls living finite human lives. Acceptance of this simple fact liberates us from pressure to be greater than we actually are, and also from despair over being less than what we fear we may be. We acknowledge that we are limited in some ways and also unlimited in others, maturing into an appropriate sense of our relationship to life.

Ultimately, this empowers us to make the best use of who we are, given our natural resources.

One of my favorite quotes, attributed to John Wesley, makes it clear that we can literally obliterate despair by living a fully conscious life:

Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.

Especially in these times, there is important work for each of us to do, and I am honored and privileged to be here with you, countering despair with Akashic light and love.
