I prayed desperately to a God I was not sure existed, essentially asking for help and asking how my life could look so good on the outside but feel so bad on the inside.
Then while lying on my bed looking out my third-floor window at a tree with its leaves shimmering in the sunlight, everything stopped: the inner noise halted, calm came in, and I suddenly knew that I was connected to that tree and everything else in all creation. All one.
In that moment of exquisite awareness, I felt known and loved by life. I understood that I was good enough, that I belonged, and that all would be well. This experience changed my concept of God from a distant bearded old man in the sky to something more like a force field of presence, power, compassion, and kindness. It launched my lifelong quest to live from that awareness and share it with others.
All humans exist within absolute oneness. There is no such thing as being outside of, or disconnected from, the oneness. What changes is not the oneness itself, but our awareness of it. All souls are on their way to discovering that we are one—connected by, and contained within, loving light.
Unity is the lived recognition that we are one: an interdependent, interconnected whole.
Unity also points to the deeper spiritual truth that each of us is a unique expression of one unified soul, and that our collective destiny includes a state of unity where all people experience, express, and enjoy unconditional love and participate and contribute in nurturing and satisfying ways.
In the tens of thousands of students I have had the pleasure of teaching about the Akashic Records, I’ve encountered an incredibly diverse range of personalities and backgrounds. But somehow it is also abundantly clear that each individual soul harmonizes with us all. And because we are one, everything and everyone is divine at our core, even when outer appearances make that hard to see.
Despite the inherent unity and harmony of each and every one of us, in the real everyday world, divisiveness disrupts our natural state of unity and harmony.
Divisiveness grows out of the illusion of separation. When we believe we are separate, fear increases, protective walls become barriers, and we justify more isolation. Divisiveness deprives us of meaningful interaction as we push people away from ourselves. This is especially harmful because life unfolds through our relationships. Fulfillment and manifestation happen through us and each other, not apart from people.
Just as mosaic tiles of many different colors and textures can create a beautiful and cohesive work of art, and just as many different notes and voices create beautiful and cohesive music, harmony is a mutually enhancing alignment. It is an inner-and-outer fit where you are in right relationship with yourself, other people, and life exactly as it is.
During this pivotal time in human history, when economic, political, environmental, social, and technological pressures are bearing down on every being on our planet, harmony is the key to our collective evolutionary upgrade. We must learn to accept the fact that we are one.
We will build the future we all desire through unity and harmony. It is my great pleasure to join hands with all of you on this sacred journey.
