One of my friends was recently telling me stories about her mother’s favorite method of procrastination, which was to say, “I’ll get to (insert any task) as soon as all of this nervousness is over.”

Whether it was cleaning out the closet or shedding a few extra pounds or balancing the checkbook, the pressure of the current “nervousness” was always a convenient way to put off a task for as long as possible. The nervousness might have been upcoming holidays or events, family drama, or even hazardous weather, but the condition of nervousness was ever-present and always handy.

My friend and I had a good laugh about this, as it is so delightfully ridiculous and wonderfully human!

Of course, the “nervousness” is merely life in all its imperfect glory! There are always challenges and always obstacles and always things we don’t want to do. But like it or not, these things do not get any easier or more pleasant by delaying or ignoring them. Sometimes they even get worse. We know this to be true.

Our only realistic option in this life is to keep going on our path, one foot in front of the other, and do the best we can. If we always try to mindfully live in the present and embrace every moment of our life without judging whether that moment is good or bad, we will be happier on the journey. It’s just that simple.

Frequently when I’m working with students, I hear them express tremendous dread or trepidation about some aspect of their future: an illness, a career change, a move, a divorce, etc. Then when we explore the situation in the Light of the Akashic Records, the perspective shifts and what seemed impossible reveals unexpected insights on how to get through it.

The Akashic Atmosphere is one of non-judgement and unconditional love. This steadfast support of your soul and its journey will help you navigate a lifetime of obstacles, challenges, conflicts, and “nervousness.”

Even when life seems unrelentingly difficult, know that your journey is indeed sacred. There is always a spark of joy somewhere. And in many ways, working in the Records will help you step back, observe the big picture, and even see some light at the end of what may seem to be a long dark tunnel.

May your journey always reveal sparkles of joy.
